ILOVEYOU

The ILOVEYOU virus, also known as "Love Bug" or "Love Letter," was a computer worm that spread via email in May 2000. It originated in the Philippines and quickly became one of the most virulent computer viruses of its time, causing widespread damage across the globe. The virus was transmitted through an email message with the subject line "ILOVEYOU" and an attachment named "LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.txt.vbs."

When the attachment was opened, the Visual Basic script was executed, which then replicated itself by sending copies of the email to all contacts in the recipient's Microsoft Outlook address book. In addition to replicating itself, the virus also performed several malicious actions on the infected computer. It could overwrite files, making them unusable, and it targeted specific file types, including documents, images, and audio files, by replacing them with copies of itself. This caused the loss of personal data and affected businesses and government agencies worldwide.
