The KAMMU kimono is a heavyweight premium kimono with weatherproof zippers and magnetic Fidlock fasteners. Comfortable, with a high-end heavyweight feel that creates a modern oversized yet traditional appearance.
Emperor Kammu reigned over Japan at the height of its imperial power. Best known for moving the capital to Heiankyo, now Kyoto, in 794 CE, he was one of the country's most powerful emperors. He trimmed the state administration without sparing the unwieldy royal court, restricted Buddhist influence on politics despite being a devout Buddhist himself, and ended the longstanding policy of drafting peasants into provincial militias. Together this formed the foundation of the Heian period, 794 to 1185.
